Step by step process

    First scrape out any loose filler or pointing materials and brush away the debris. Make sure that the wood is properly protected by varnish or wood stain.

Cut the nozzle of the pack at a 45 degree angle to make a suitable width seal, and then run a continuous bead along to fill the gap.
