How to replace a leaky seal around a draining board

Task difficulty: Quite easy

The join where the wall tiles meet my kitchen sink and draining board has become gungy. What's more, moisture is seeping into the cupboards below and I'm worried that it will become a trap for dirt and germs. Polycell Squeeze & Seal are an easy to apply range of sealants. The kitchens & bathrooms variant (available in white or translucent) is designed to solve just such a problem.

    Step 1

First scrape out all loose pieces of tile cement and grout with a sharp scraper to make a smooth edge. Then brush away all the loose debris.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Polycell Squeeze & Seal comes in a special malleable pack that you simply squeeze to apply the right amount of sealant - no more struggling with wasteful cartridge guns! Cut the nozzle of the pack at a 45 degree angle to make a suitable width seal, then run a continuous bead along to fill the gap.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Smooth off neatly with a round ended stick or similar and wipe away any excess with a damp cloth before it dries.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Leave the sealant to dry completely before using the sink. There you have it, a perfect, hygienic seal.
