I'm just about to paint the living room with the emulsion and want to fill a small, ragged hole where the plaster has been damaged. I'm no plasterer, so what's the best thing to use?

You can use it straight from the tube or tub so there's no messy mixing. First, rake out area around the hole with the side of a filling knife to widen the cavity and brush away the debris.

Then apply the Polyfilla and smooth it down with a wet knife.
