You want to remove the wood grain on a door so that it can be painted to a glass-smooth finish.

Step by step process

Step 1
Ensure the door is dry and free from loose material.

Touch in any screw heads with gloss or any other oil-based paint.

Apply the Fine Surface Polyfilla with a filling knife. Spread over the surface, pressing in well and remove any excess filler before leaving to dry.

Step 4
For an even smoother finish, rub down with fine grade sand paper. The end result should be bump and blemish free, and ready to paint.
