How to remove mould from an exterior wall

Task difficulty: Very easy

Part of your external wall has gone mouldy and so you want to remove the mould, and stop it from returning.

Step by step process

    Wait for a dry, non-windy day and protect any nearby flowers and foliage from overspray by covering them with a dust sheet or plastic sheeting.

    If the mould is growing through a layer of paint, strip back to bare masonry.

  3. Step 3

    Wearing gloves and eye protection, twist the trigger nozzle to 'on' and spray onto the affected area until it is thoroughly wetted - try to avoid the liquid from running-off onto other areas.

    Wait for the area to dry, and then brush off the mould using a stiff brush.

    A second application may be required a few days later. Once you are happy that all of the mould has been removed, rinse the surface well and leave to dry.

    Once thoroughly dry, the wall can now be painted if required. A final light coat of spray can be applied 14 days later for added protection against re-growth.
