How to affix a tile back onto your wall

Task difficulty: Quite easy

Just one tile in my bathroom has been damaged by a jar falling out of a cupboard. I've got a spare tile, but how do I replace it?

Step by step process

    A marked or cracked ceramic tile looks unsightly, but it's not a difficult job to fit a new one. First, using a chisel and a mallet, carefully knock out both the damaged tile and the old dry adhesive from the wall. Remember that safety spectacles or goggles should always be worn for jobs like this.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

    Apply Polycell Fix & Grout to the back of the replacement tile with a notched flexible spreader. Push the new tile into place, making sure the surface is level with the surrounding tiles.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Once dry, use the spreader to push Polycell Fix & Grout into the gaps around the tile, before wiping off excess with a sponge.
