Sealing door and window frames against the elements

Problem:
I've had some new uPVC patio doors and windows fitted, but there is a gap between them and the surrounding brickwork. How should I go about filling this gap to seal out the elements?

Fix it with:
Sealant Cartridge Exterior

You can do it:
The best solution is to use Polycell Sealant Exterior cartridges in white or translucent to achieve a continuous waterproof seal around the edges of the frames.

First, remove any loose materials and brush out the debris. Next, fit a Polycell Sealant Exterior cartridge into a skeleton gun and slice the nozzle at a 450 angle to produce a thick enough bead to seal the gap. Now, squeeze the gun trigger to start the flow and, pushing the gun nozzle forward, run a continuous bead along the length of the gap. Finish off with a round-ended stick or similar tool and wipe away any excess with a damp cloth before it dries, normally in about six hours.

Tip:
To achieve a nice straight line, use masking tape and remove it within five minutes of application to create a smooth edge.

The finished effect will look professional as well as providing your home with a long-lasting and weatherproof seal against wind, rain and snow. Polycell Sealant Exterior cartridges work equally as well on wood and metal frames.
